J-B is having a milestone birthday today! We’ll be celebrating it tomorrow because his family gets first crack at him on his actual day, naturally.

I love birthdays, and couldn’t let his 60th pass without fanfare… but I couldn’t bring myself to be entirely nice about it, either. He’d question its sincerity! haha

Greetings Haiku affecionados! Been away awhile, but pleased to be here again. It’s so good for one’s health to create Haiku . . . . Here’s a few for you:

Taken for granted:
friendships, peace, love, joy and health.
Nurture them always!

Taking care of me:
Some things have been left too long.
Will be well real soon!

Never know each day
until suddenly it’s here!
Regular check-ups!

Well-rounded person:
they’ve achieved a balanced life.
Alls’ in perspective.

The best medicine?
Life’s tonic mixer of course:
family and friends!

What will we do with J-B away for 3 weeks?? Oh the Haiku-manity!!!

Well, he was in dire need of a good vacation, so he deserves it and I can’t begrudge him his time away. He and his wife are off on a 2 week Mediterranean Cruise with a few days on either end to explore their departure (in Spain) and final (in Italy) ports. I’m sure they’re going to have a fabulous adventure! I guess we’ll get by without his brilliant haiku… somehow.

Oh I know! We’ll coerce ShaMoo back into blogging by doing a guest post on my other blog! Yep, that will do nicely.

Check out ShaMoo’s Guest Post this coming Monday, May 2nd. I’ve read it, and… wow, I feel her pain.

In the mean time… have a great weekend! I’m off to explore a hiking trail with my kids.

Greetings, Haiku aficionados! We turn to this week’s theme of “shadow”, and see what images we can conjure up . . . . .

What is so eerie
about shadows in darkness?
Fear of the unseen!

Late in the day the
setting sun casts long shadows.
Make shadow puppets!

Dogs are called “Shadow”.
Maybe horses too. Not cats!
What’s in that name? Why?

Outrun your shadow?
Never! It’s always with you!
Might as well be friends . . . . . !

Have come to see that
life in another’s shadow
is no way to live.

Look at your shadow:
and do you like what you see?
How’d others see you?

So what has happened?
Shadow of my former self;
fresh awakening . . . .
